“From what I can recall this pub has always served good food, but of late it has definitely stepped up a notch or two. Visited as a group of five with family and everyone had an excellent meal. Basic pub food but all cooked exceptionally well. Staff very friendly, food very reasonably priced particularly when compared with many of the other places locally. Desserts clearly home made and very very good.

“Could not have been made more welcome here by the hospitable landlord and his team. There were 20 of us from Isle of Wight Round Table 1277 which can sometimes be a problem but these guys took it in their stride and served up very generous helpings of freshly made lasagne, steak pie (full of pieced of juicy steak not just lots of gravy like some places) and delicious chicken curry.”

“Friday night meal at the Duke of York was exactly what you would expect from pub grub. Good hearty and warming food at reasonable rices. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We usually go for Sunday lunch so an evening meal was a different menu which proved to be varied and interesting. We needed to make some changes and they were very accommodating.
All in all it was a nice meal and we’ll definitely be back.”
