Our Menus

The Duke of York has a pleasant restaurant which offers a variety of freshly cooked food. Our new 2018 menu options below include several fish dishes for which the Duke is well known and an array of other delicious choices from meat dishes to pasta, salads and vegetarian dishes; or pop in for Sunday lunch, we’d love to see you.

To Start

  • Garlic Bread: £3.95 – Tasty slices of garlic topped French bread
  • Homemade Soup: £4.95 – Served with fresh, crusty bread. Choose from: Vegetable, Stilton & Brocolli or Cream of Chicken
  • Garlic Mushrooms: £4.95 – Fresh mushrooms gently fried in butter with garlic, served with salad garnish and a slice of garlic bread
  • Smoked Salmon: £6.95 – Succulent salmon served with a wedge of lemon with a salad garnish
  • Prawn Cocktail: £6.95 – Best quality prawns served with a crispy salad, Marie Rose sauce accompanied with brown bread & butter
  • Smoked Salmon & Crab meat: £6.95 – Smoked Salmon rolls filled with local crab meat, served with salad garnish and Marie Rose sauce
  • Whitebait: £5.95 – Crispy coated Whitebait deep-fried and served with salad garnish and tartare sauce
  • Moules Mariniere (Starter Portion): £7.95 – A bowl of shell-on mussels cooked with cream, wine and garlic, served with 2 slices of garlic bread
  • Chicken Spicy Hot Wings: £5.95 – Hot and spicy coated juicy chicken wings

Meat Dishes

  • Half Roast Chicken: £12.95 – Cooked on the premises and served with a side of spicy BBQ sauce
  • BBQ Pork Ribs: £11.95 – Slow cooked and served in our own recipe BBQ sauce

Grilled to your liking and served with buttered mushrooms, grilled tomato and beer battered onion rings.

  • Premium 6 oz. Burger: 10.95 – Served in a floured bap with a side salad and fries. Optional toppings – Cheese or Bacon, £0.50 extra
  • Bangers and Mash: £8.95 – Good old fashioned pork snokers served with buttery mash, petit pois peas and tasty gravy
  • Pies, Pies, Pies all at £10.95 – Made on the premises using top quality ingredients and served in an earthenware dish. Plenty of filling with handmade shortcrust pastry lid. Choose from Steak and Kidney, Chicken Leak and Pancetta or Steak and Ale
  • Curries all at £11.95 – All homemade to our own recipes. Chicken, a creamy mild and fruity curry. Moroccan Lamb cooked with fruit, vegetables and chickpeas, a medium hot and slightly sweet curry. Beef Madras marinated then slow cooked for 5-6 hours, lean chunks of beef in rich and spicy sauce. The hottest of our curries. All served with boiled rice, coriander and garlic naan bread and mango chutney
  • Gammon Ham: £10.95 – Home cooked best quality gammon ham oven baked with mustard and demerara sugar, sliced cold and served with either 2 fried eggs and chips or as a salad with chips or new potatoes
  • Homemade Spaghetti Bolognese: £10.95 – Lean steak mince cooked with diced vegetables, tomatoes, herbs and red wine made to a traditional Italian recipe and served with spaghetti

Fish and Seafood

  • Traditional Battered Cod: £11.95 – Best quality skinless cod dipped in our own batter mix and deep fried until golden
  • Grilled Sardines: £12.95 – Whole sardines gutted and grilled with olive oil and a hint of garlic
  • Moules Mariniere: £12.95 – Mussels steamed with onion, garlic and white wine and finished with a splash of cream, served with crusty bread
  • Local Sea Bass: £16.95 – Fillets of local Sea Bass, oven baked and served with petit pois and a wedge of lemon
  • Grilled Plaice Fillet: £10.95 – Boneless Plaice fillet brushed with butter, grilled and served with petis pois and a wedge of lemon
  • Whole King Prawns: £16.95 – Shell on King Prawns shallow fried in butter with a hint of garlic and flamed in Brandy
  • Jumbo Gourmet Scampi: £13.95 – Dipped in our own batter mix and deep fried
  • Scampi Boulevard: £15.95 – Pan fried scampi in a cream and vodka sauce with a hint of garlic
  • Local Crab, Prawn and Smoked Salmon Salad: £13.95 – Local dressed crab, shlled prawns and smoked salmon with a selection of fresh seasonal salad
  • Homemade Fish Pie: £11.95 – A selection of white, pink and smoked fish in our own creamy sauce, covered with mashed potato, topped with grated cheese and baked until golden
  • Poached Salmon: £11.95 – Succulent Salmon served in a homemade parsley sauce
  • Chefs own Luxury Fishcakes: £10.95 – Homemade using a selection of Salmon, white and smoked fish

Unless otherwise stated all our main meals are served with a choice of Salad or Vegetables, Chips, Mash or Hot Minted New Potatoes

Vegetarian Menu all at £11.95

  • Vegetarian Curry – a selection of vegetables and fruit in a medium hot sauce sweetened with fruits and finished with a splash of cream. Served with a warm garlic and coriander Naan Bread, white rice and tangy mango chutney
  • Mushroom Stronganoff – mushrooms in cream-based sauce, served with rice, pasta or chips, and vegetables
  • Vegetarian Pie – creamy based vegetable pie served in an earthenware pot and topped with handmade shortcrust pastry lid
  • Spaghetti Bolognese – Quorn mince and diced vegetables in a rich Bolognese sauce made to a traditional Italian recipe slow cooked in the oven for a maximum flavour and served with spaghetti
  • 5 Bean Cassoulet – a selection of various varieties of beans, pulses and diced vegetables in a tomato and garlic based sauce
  • Homemade Veggie Burger – vegetables, lentils, beans and mushrooms in a golden breadcrumb coating topped with optional cheese in a fresh multi seeded bun
  • Quorn Chicken Casserole – chunks of Quorn chicken pieces casseroled with mushrooms and vegetables in a tasty vegetable gravy served with petit pois peas and mashed potato
